The Cluny family has been cultivating wine for more than 6 generations in Brochon at the heart of Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. When you drink wine from Domaine Cluny and Burgundy in general, you also step into winemaking that goes back more than 2000 years.
Today, it is the sisters Léa and Camille Cluny who carry on the legacy from founder Charles Cluny and together they are responsible for the operation and development of the beautiful estate.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, understanding of terroir has held central importance to the initiatives the estate has undertaken in their efforts to achieve the best for each parcel. In recent years, the focus has been on sustainable farming, where techniques for soil cultivation have been improved among others.
The grapes are gently hand-picked and also sorted by hand so that only the very best grapes find their way to the winery. Winemaking takes place in a traditional way without added yeast, 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels where the use of new barrels varies according to need.
Domaine Cluny possesses a total of 7 hectares distributed in the communes of Chambolle Musigny and Gevrey Chambertin, areas that traditionally produce wine with finesse and complexity which also has great aging potential.
